We are delighted to be able to report on EP’s recent trip to West Africa
For many years now EP has published books, broadcasted radio programmes, coordinated conferences and administered correspondence courses in the French speaking world.
In mid February Jean-Claude Souillot (from France) and Stephen Bignall (originally from Australia but now pastor in the United Kingdom and vice-chairman of EP) travelled to West Africa to continue the work of EP in the French language. The trip began in Togo where Jean-Claude and local EP employees preached at and encouraged churches in the area. Many of these congregations are isolated and hugely value these visits.
The party then moved on to Bénin (the birthplace of Voodoo) and were joined by Stephen Bignall for the 2009 West Africa conference. The event is designed to encourage the younger/next generation of preachers. The subject was ‘The pillars of the Gospel’ and it was well attended by pastors and students from six African countries.
The work in Bénin and Togo is encouraging as we see men taking responsibility in leading and building sustainable churches. Of course it is not always easy and there are many diverse problems. Please pray that the preachers and pastors will continue to lead the churches in the ways of the Lord. Pray also that EP, with God’s help may have the wisdom and spiritual discernment necessary to help the next generation of leaders in French speaking West Africa.
