Who are EP? ‘EP is a non-profit mission organization. It's mission is to place sound Christian books and sound biblical teaching within reach of as many people as it can across the world. One hundred per cent of your purchases of books and giving enables EP to hold conferences, produce books, newspapers, radio shows and correspondence courses. We currently have EP employees working in three continents, and books printed in fifty languages. Thank you for your support in this ministry. We encourage you to keep reading and recommending our books to others. If you do, you will help us reach even more people with the glorious truth of the gospel! The mission of EP is to promote reformed literature throughout the world concentrating mainly (but not exclusively) in English, French, Russian and currently Chinese. In reality we do have publications available in at least fifty languages. The principle is simple – every area of our work in every country and language we work in is vitally important. Where one location or language makes a profit, or where we receive any donations, we use this to make our publications more affordable in other less well off locations, thus giving access to all.
What do the letters EP stand for? When EP was first established in 1973 it was called ‘Evangelical Press’. Over the years the word ‘Evangelical’ has come to mean many different things to many different people and often results in an unhelpful barrier. Therefore in 2008 it was decided to brand ourselves as EP.
Does EP have a theological stance? Yes: EP is committed to the historic evangelical and Reformed faith (often referred to in common parlance as Calvinism), with its emphasis on the sovereignty of God, who chose for himself a people before time began and sent his Son, the Lord Jesus Christ, to redeem these people by his death on the cross as their substitute. We are fully committed to the teaching that Scripture is the infallible and authoritative revelation of God himself and is our final authority in all matters of faith and practice. It is also our position that direct revelation ceased with the completion of the canon and that it is through Scripture alone that God speaks to his church today.
How can I get my manuscript reviewed by EP? We welcome submissions of manuscripts. As a publisher we aim to produce books written specifically from the theological perspective above which are suitable for a wide readership. There would therefore be little point in submitting to us any manuscript the content of which was not in full agreement with that doctrinal position — for example, one which teaches that man can in his own strength, and without the work of the Holy Spirit in awakening him and giving the new birth, freely choose to serve God or live for him, or one which maintains the view that God is revealing new truths to the church today by modern-day prophets. In addition, we do not normally publish collections of poetry, works of fiction or those of a chiefly autobiographical nature. We do not knowingly accept submissions of manuscripts currently under consideration by other publishers. To submit a manuscript for our consideration, we would suggest that you send us a detailed outline covering the whole of the proposed work, together with a couple of sample chapters, which need not be the opening chapters, but should be fairly representative of the style and content of the book as a whole. Manuscripts may be submitted either in a printed format, by post, or electronically. In the latter case (unless the material is sent in Acrobat PDF format, with all fonts embedded) significant details of presentation and format may change when the text is printed out for our reviewers. This is especially the case if the original was prepared using letter page format, rather than A4. For any manuscripts involving graphics, tables or other material where the layout of certain sections is crucial to the understanding of the text, a printed copy is, therefore advisable, in addition to any electronic version supplied. Manuscript submissions by post should be addressed to the following address: Evangelical Press, Faverdale North Industrial Estate, Darlington. DL3 0PH England Or to contact us by email please select the 'Contact us' tab above.
Can you explain you postage and packaging costs? Our intention is to charge a reasonable rate for postage and packaging. We are a not for profit organization and therefore we simply aim to pass on the real cost of the service to the customer. Unfortunately in the UK there is no automated system to calculate actual shipping rates and therefore we have created an escalating formula which we hope reflects reality. Our shipping rates vary according to the value of your order making it affordable to buy one book, or many books at once. In most circumstances we also present you with both economy and express options. Deliveries outside of the UK automatically incur an additional charge. We are currently reviewing our postage rates and therefore more detail will appear here shortly once configured on the website.
What should I do if I need to return of damaged, defective or incorrect Items? This returns policy does not affect your statutory rights. If the item was damaged in transit If you take delivery of an EP package and the contents have been damaged in transit, you can return the item(s) to us within 30 days of receipt for exchange. If the item is defective You have the right to return a faulty item within a reasonable period of time. Please keep the invoice information that accompanies your item as this will be needed should there be a query. If we sent you an item you did not order (an "incorrect" item) As soon as you find out we have sent you an incorrect item please return it stating the correct item and we will replace it and refund your postage. Your Statutory Rights By law, customers in the European Union have the right to withdraw from the purchase of an item within seven working days of the day after the date the item is delivered. To cancel your purchase within the seven-working-day cooling-off period, please return the books to Evangelical Press giving the reason for the return. Please package the relevant item(s) securely and send it to us so that we receive it within seven working days of the day after the date that the item was delivered to you. For your protection, we recommend that you use a recorded-delivery service. Please note that you will be responsible for the costs of returning the items to us unless we delivered the item to you in error, or if the item is damaged or defective. If we do not receive the item back from you with the invoice, we may arrange for collection of the item from your residence at your cost. As soon as we receive notice of your cancellation of this order, we will refund the relevant part of the purchase price for that item together with the item's normal postage charge.
