'The Christian's God is a promising God', so says one of the great Puritans, Robert Traill. There could be no Christianity without this. Christianity exists because God has made his promises. God's promises encourage us to trust him and pray to him, they give us an incentive to obey him and give us assurance and peace in the present and hope for future.

In a day when many Christians are downcast and troubled by the problems of life this book reminds us that God has supplied his people with many heart-lifting promises in the midst of difficult and trying situations. There are promises that start us on the journey of the Christian life, promises that sustain us on that journey and promises for the end of the journey.

This review of God's promises to his people should fill our hearts with a fresh sense of amazement and wonder at our promising God, fire them with determination to reflect his glory and promote his kingdom and provide the 'heart-lift' so many Christians are desperately needing these days.
